The Ontario Tapestry Network is born

For years, while being a tapestry weaver here in Ontario, I have felt alone and isolated. I know this is true for many other tapestry weavers as well. For some reason, tapestry weavers are not at all like painters or other artists, in that they do not gather together to exchange ideas and collaborate together. Even within an organization like the Ontario Handweavers and Spinners, which I have the utmost respect for, when it comes to tapestry weaving, we are more often than not, not considered when it comes to our programming needs and little space is dedicated to tapestry concerns, issues and artists. So, here it is. A starting place inviting you to join me, Line Dufour, and together create a dynamic forum where new and exciting possibilities for tapestry weaving and tapestry artists can take place. Like other art and craft associations, we need to work together to put tapestry in the public spotlight and create a buzz.

We can start by featuring the work of tapestry weavers from Ontario here on this site. We can create discussion and think of ideas and hatch plans for what we can do as a group. Invite any one you know who creates handwoven tapestries and woven wall hangings. It's time tapestry weavers in Ontario come out from under the rug and say....we are here and we want to be seen and heard. On the home page, become a follower and join in now! Send me pics of your tapestries to post. If you have been taking tapestry weaving with me, I likely already have some pictures of your tapestries ready to put up, but please I will do so when you become a follower of this blog.

Stay in touch and let me know what you are doing!
